Dismiss petition for kingship-Awulae

Sekondi, Nov. 23, GNA – Awulae Annor Adjaye II, Omanhene of Western Nzema Traditional Area, has said Mr Joseph Ackah, a business executive who is claiming to have been enstooled as the King of Nzema under the stool name King Kaku Aka II, is not an indigenous Nzema.

He was speaking at the sitting of a special committee set up by the Western Regional House of Chiefs to consider a petition by Mr Ackah that he be registered and gazetted as the sole king and overlord of Nzemaland at Sekondi.

Awulae Adjaye said King Kaku Aka I, who Mr Ackah is claiming to be his biological descendant and immediate successor, belonged to the Anno Bilay’s line of Aowin Nvaville Matriclan of Awiaso. He said, “Anno Bilay and his cohort usurped the Nzema Stool from the founding fathers, Amihere Kpanyinli and Kema Kpanyinli, all of the Ndweafo Matriclan”.

Awulae Adjaye said the atrocities and cruelties perpetrated by King Kaku Aka I against his people and foreigners were so horrendous that no responsible government would condone with such acts of barbarism. “It was also an act of God which made it possible for the Ndweafo Stool, which was eclipsed from Kema Kpanyinli and prostituted by the migrant Nvaville matriclan, to eventually revert to the ancestors of the founding fathers of Nzemaland once and for all”.

Awulae Adjaye said Kaku Aka’s matriclan are aliens and have Aowin origin and have no legitimate right to the Nzema Maanle Stool again. He said the installation of King Kaku Aka II was flawed since it failed to conform to established Nzema Customary Laws and Practices and should be declared null and void.

Awulae Adjaye said any proper enstoolement of Nzemahene, according to Nzema custom, could not be done without the consent of the presidents of the traditional councils and their accredited membership. He said such chieftaincy related problems were becoming a hindrance to the peace and security agenda of the country and must be checked and halted instead of being encouraged.

Nana Atta Kwesi Brembi III, Omanhene of Suaman Traditional Area is the chairman of the committee that has Nana Kweku Binna III, Omanhene of Shama Traditional Area and Osabarima Kow Entsie II, Omanhene of Mpohor Traditional Area as members.
