Dismiss Elizabeth Ohene ? NUGS

The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has called for the immediate dismissal of Miss Elizabeth Ohene, Minister of State for Tertiary Education. The leadership of the Union accused her of insensitivity and lack of commitment towards her ministerial duties.

They have also accused her of taking delight in attending funerals and other social gathering than taking part in crucial decision making meetings, workshops and seminars on tertiary educational policies.

Addressing a press conference in Accra, the President of NUGS, Edward Kofi Omane Boamah said Miss Elizabeth Ohene has been running away from the leadership of NUGS since her appointment to the tertiary education.

The student leader said they have tried several times to meet with her to discuss problems and other matters of concern within the tertiary institutions but all their attempts proved futile.

They said her secretary, on seeing the student leadership always gave flimsy excuses that she had either gone out, or appointments must be booked days before seeing the Minister of State.

The NUGS President lamented that many of them expressed shock upon hearing Miss Elizabeth Ohene?s new Portifolio as the Minister of State for Tertiary Education. But the leadership regulated their prejudices about her.

However considering the reckless and misguided statements she makes about education in Ghana, they have challenged the NPP government to come out with a more level headed personality to head the Tertiary Education Division.
