Director of Africa Muslim Agency visits Kumasi

Kumasi, June 5, GNA – Dr Abdulraman Sumait, Director of the Africa Muslim Agency, a Kuwait Muslim Organisation, has commended officials of the Ashanti regional office of the Agency for utilizing funds allocated to them judiciously to improve the lives of unfortunate people in their communities.

Speaking in Kumasi at a meeting with Muslim chiefs, elders and Imams at the weekend, as part of his visit to inspect development projects of the Agency in Ghana, Dr Sumait expressed his happiness about how the officials had been able to establish an orphanage to cater for the needy Muslim children in the region.

Markaz Abdulla Ahmed Alqusz Centre at Kentikrono in Kumasi, which was established through financial assistance from the Africa Muslim Agency, has primary and JSS schools, computer centre, dormitories, library, canteen and a mosque. Currently, there are about 130 orphans at the centre, who are being supported by the Agency.

Dr Sumait presented school uniforms and shoes to the orphans. Alhaji Ibrahim Dansofo, Ashanti Regional Sarikin Zongo, thanked the Agency for the good work being done to improve the lives of the less privilege in the Muslim communities.

He said Muslims in the region would continue to support the activities of the Agency to achieve its objectives. Sheik Mohammed Saleh Ahmed, an advisor to the Agency, advised Muslims in Ghana to appreciate the efforts of the people in Kuwait and contribute their quota to the upkeep of the orphans in the centre. Sheik Abdulla Mamoud, Director of the centre, thanked the sponsors of the orphanage for their continued support towards the upkeep of the children.
