Director advocates for employment generating system

Mrs Rita Rebecca Ackon, Awutu Senya Municipal Director of Education, has observed that one way to have accelerated economic growth was to have an educational system that would produce graduates capable of generating employment.

If that was done, she said, then education could be said to have shaped the lives of people, adding that, it must be able to produce loyal and patriotic citizens.

These were contained in a her speech read on her behalf by Mr Godwin Amekorpe, Education Officer, during the 15th graduation day of the His Grace International School at Kasoa, on the theme: ‘Shaping Lives in His grace.’

Mrs Ackon said the system must also aim at training quality teachers and improve teaching and learning at all levels of education, saying that despite multiplicity of private schools, there were teaming number of school-going children not in school.

She, therefore, urged parents and guardians not only to enroll their wards in school, but to support private schools financially, because they were being operated at a great cost.

Mr Joshua Ampong, Director of the school, appealed to the government to give budgetary allocation to approved private schools, because of their immense contributions towards the upbringing of children.

He said the Ghana National Association of Private Schools must be given a platform at any forum aimed at discussing education, and a special desk created at the Ministry of Education on the Association’s’ welfare.

He said plans were afoot to construct new classrooms to enroll more pupils, adding that for the past five years, the school has been scoring 100 per cent in examinations.

Certificates were presented to deserving pupils.

Mr Timothy Ansah, Accountant at Chalton company Limited, presided.
