Development on the Horizon: Bono Regional Minister Pledges Support for Dormaa East

The Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addai Akwaboa, embarked on a familiarization tour of the Dormaa East District, where he met with Nananom and the general public at the Presby Park.

The Minister’s visit was met with enthusiasm, as the general public eagerly gathered to meet him.

During the meeting, Hon. Joseph Addai Akwaboa assured the public that the district assembly’s account is now well-funded, with a significant increase in the common fund.

This, he explained, would enable the implementation of various projects, including clinics, CHIP compounds, classroom blocks, boreholes, and other essential amenities.

He also confirmed that assembly members have been paid, fulfilling a promise made by President John Dramani Mahama.

The Minister’s announcements brought smiles to the faces of the attendees, particularly when he revealed that several road projects have been awarded to contractors. These include the Kyeremasu to Gambia No. 2 and Amasu to Aboabo No. 4 Road, with construction expected to begin before the end of the year under the big push.

Additionally, the Sunyani Alaska Junction to New Dormaa through to Dumase to Fiapre Catholic University back to Alaska road project (36 Kilometers) has been awarded to a contractor, with work expected to commence next month.

The Berekum Jinijini to Sampa road is also under contract, with the contractor expected to begin work by the end of the year.

However, the Minister did not shy away from addressing the district’s challenges. He urged Nananom and the public to join hands in addressing the district’s high rate of HIV/AIDS, which requires urgent attention.

The chiefs, led by Nana Asamoa Kumtwie, Mansen Mawerehene, and Dormaa Nseseresuhene, thanked the Minister and the President for their promises.

He advised the Minister and the President to follow through on their commitments and ensure that contractors deliver on their promises. The chiefs also highlighted the need for new district police cars to enhance security and cautioned against undertaking projects without proper consultation.

As the meeting came to a close, the people of Dormaa East left with renewed hope and optimism, looking forward to the development and progress that the Minister’s announcements promise.
