Deputy Minister Denounces Daily Guide Story

The Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Anima Wilson is calling on all National Democratic Congress party faithful within the Ashanti region to rally strongly behind President John Evans Atta Mills to move the country forward in a positive direction.

The Deputy Minister’s call forms part of a rejoinder dated 21st February, 2011 in which the minister called on all NDC supporters within the Ashanti region to treat with contempt an earlier news report by the Daily Guide Newspaper captioned “Zongo Women Declare Support” that stated that a group of NDC Zongo Women had declared their unflinching support for the former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings’ presidential ambition.

The Daily Guide story which was published on the 21st February, 2011, indicated that the said group consisted of Zongo women across the country. But according to Hon. Anima Wilson, the group is not known to the NDC party in the Ashanti region.

According to the Deputy Minister, “the group is not known to the 82 women leadership of the party comprising 39 constituency women organisers and their deputies, the 3 Regional Women Organisers and the Deputy Regional minister”, adding that “Mrs. Rawlings has not declared any presidential ambition to us”. The NDC in the region according to the rejoinder, strongly suspect that the publication and its contents are machinations of their detractors who are bent on planting discord within the ranks of the ruling party.
