Departmental Heads appeal to head of Civil Service

Wa, Aug 8, GNA- Heads of departments in the Upper West Region have appealed to the head of the Civil Service, Dr Alex Glover-Quartey, to be firm and resolute in the implementation of the on-going transfer exercise involving officers who have stayed at their posts for six years and above.

In their view, the success of exercise will depend on how firm and resolute he will be in rejecting excuses from affected officers to cancel their transfers.

The departmental heads expressed this concern at a meeting called at the instance of the Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) to find out how far they had complied in effecting the transfers of such officers in their organisations.

At the regional level, the Heads are to furnish the Regional Co-ordinating Councils with the names of officers due for transfer for the RCC to effect the exercise.

In the opinion of the departmental heads, the region is the most deprived in terms of personnel as almost all organisations in the region operate with less than the required staff.

They claimed that information reaching them indicate that officers due for transfer to the region have already started lobbying to avoid coming to the region.

Notable among such officers are those who hail from the region. Mr Daniel Nyankamawu, Regional Co-ordinating Director, said the exercise is aimed at exposing the officers to new experiences. 08 Aug. 03
