Denkyira Obuasi assemblyman in police custody

William Baah, the assemblyman of Denkyira Obuasi who is alleged to have organised the youth to kill army Captain Maxwell A. Mahama, is currently in police custody aiding investigations.

“Presently, police are keeping six suspects related to the murder of Captain Mahama in custody. They are William Baah (the assemblyman of Denkyira Obuasi), Bismark Donkor, Philip Badu, Kofi Nyame, Anthony Amoah, and Kofi Badu,” a press release from the police confirmed.

Captain Maxwell A. Mahama was lynched on suspicion that he was an armed robber, after a group of residents from whom he asked for directions during a Monday May 29 dawn jogging session spotted a pistol on him.

He was the commander of a military detachment to Denkyira Obuasi in the Central Region for a mission sanctioned by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

Subsequently, he went into hiding and later called the Member of Parliament for Upper West Denkyira, Samuel Nsowa-Djan, who arranged for him to be picked up by police.

“In the morning around 10am, I got a call and when I answered it was the assemblyman. He told me where he was and I spoke with the district police commander and we went there to get him after which we went to Cape Coast,” the MP explained.
