Delta-8 denied bail

The case involving eight persons who aided the escape of 13 members of pro-government vigilante group Delta Force has been adjourned to 18 April.

The suspects were denied bail despite arguments by their lawyer, Gary Nimako, that their offence was a bailable one.

The court, presided by Patricia Amposah at the Kumasi Circuit 2, charged the eight suspects with causing disturbance in court, resisting arrest and rescuing persons in lawful custody.

Their counsel argued that the case bordered on national security, thus, his client must be granted bail but the presiding judge turned down his request.

There was heavy security at the court premises today.
