Delegation For Wood Workers Congress Leaves Tonight

Accra, Aug. 27, – A four-member delegation of the Ghana Trades Union Congress leaves for Harare, Zimbabwe, tonight to attend the 20th World Congress of the International Federation Of Building and Wood Workers (IFBWW) which opens from September three to five. The world congress of the IFBWW, the first ever in Africa on the theme “Modernising our unions” will provide a forum for the analysis of the role of the trade union movement in the 21st century. The delegation is being led by Mr George Mannah, General Secretary of the Timber and Woodworkers Union (TWU) who is also an Executive member of the Africa Regional Committee of the IFBWW. The others are Mr Stephen A. Nyanney, General Secretary of the Public Utility Workers Union (TWU), Miss Sarah Sam, president of TWU Women’s Wing and first Vice-President of IFBWW Women’s Committee and Mr Francis Owusu, first trustee of TWU.
