Death of Akuapem Nifahene announced

The Akuapem Nifa Traditional Council, has announced the death of Osuodumgya Otutu Kono II, Okerehene and Nifahene of the Akuapem Traditional area, who reigned from 2002 till his death.

According to Nana Opese Kunadu, the acting Nifahene and Chief of Akuapem-Awukugua, the funeral of the late chief has been scheduled for August 2- August 8 and as a mark of respect a ban on all noisemaking activity including weddings and funerals would be in force from July 10.

Addressing the media and a host of chiefs from the Nifa Division of the area, to officially announce his demise to the public, the acting Nifahene said Osuodumgya Otutu Kono II, passed on, in January 31, and would be remembered for his initiatives towards the youth’s development.

Known in private life as Henry Atta Korang, the late chief was an astute lawyer who retired as a judge of the Appeal court of Ghana and was also part of the core divisional chiefs who supported the unity of the Akuapem state after 17 years of the chieftaincy dispute.
