DCE urges govt to extend water to Ejisu-Juaben District

Ejisu (Ash), Aug 1, GNA- Mr Yaw Ahenkora Afrifa, Ejisu-Juaben District Chief Executive, has appealed to the government to extend water to the district and its environs to ensure the success of the Boankra Inland Port project.

Mr Afrifa was speaking during a call on him by the Parliamentary Sub-Committee on Works and Housing on Thursday at Ejisu as part of its visit to some communities in the district.

He said Ejisu was close to Kumasi and as such the government should be able to extend water to the town and its environs including Boankra. Mr Afrifa said the district does not enjoy pipe-borne water except boreholes in some communities and wondered ”how the Boankra project will get water when it becomes operational if water is not extended there.”

Mr Samuel Otu Darko, Member of Parliament for Ga North and Chairman of the Committee, assured the DCE that the concerns of the district would be conveyed to the appropriate quarters for action. The committee visited Onwe, Adako-Jachie, Kwamo and Bronikrom, all in the district.
