DCE commends churches for peaceful elections

Mankessim (C/R), Dec 31, GNA – The District Chief Executive for Mfantseman, Mr Robert Quainoo-Arthur, has commended Churches for their role in ensuring a peaceful general election. He said that with the elections over, the Churches should now support the government to move the nation forward.

The DCE was speaking at a convention of the Mankessim South District of the Church of Pentecost, at Mankessim. He urged Christians to emulate the Prophet Nehemiah in the Bible who said, “let us rise and build” when informed about the destruction of the wall of Jerusalem by the enemies of the city. Ghanaians, irrespective of political affiliation should rise and build Ghana, Mr Quainoo-Arthur said.

The DCE expressed concern about sanitation at Mankessim and urged the people to assist the District Assembly to improve the situation. The Reverend Daniel Sackey, Mankessim South District Pastor of the Church, said the birth of Christ had restored the dignity of man after the “fall of our first parents, Adam and Eve”. He said the birth should rekindle the hope of Christians that their salvation had been restored.

A total of 23 converts were registered at the four-day event.
