CSIR Director-General gets top African job

Accra, May 24, GNA – Professor Emmanuel Owusu-Bennoah, Director-General of Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), has been appointed the President of the West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development (CORAF/WECARD). He was appointed unanimously at the just-ended Sixth General Assembly of the Council in Senegal.

Prof. Owusu-Bennoah, who will hold the position for three years, told the Ghana News Agency in Accra that he was the first person from an Anglophone country to be appointed to the office.

CORAF/WECARD is a sub-regional research organisation made up of national agricultural research systems of 23 member countries.
