Kasoa (C/R), July 26, GNA – The Kasoa District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Charles Adalong, on Monday said night patrols and some other measures put in place by the Police has helped in reducing the crime wave in the district.
Speaking to the GNA he said that between January and June 2003, 927 cases were recorded while 764 had been registered for the same period this year.
He mentioned some of the cases as stealing, threats, assaults and rape.
Two armed robbery cases were recorded in 2003 and this year, he said adding that, no murder case had been reported.
The District Commander said the increasing population of Kasoa required more Police personnel and the opening of more Police stations. He said lack of accommodation was the major problem hindering the posting of more personnel to the area.
Mr. Adalong stressed the need for the allocation of a new patrol vehicle since their present one was unable to reach certain areas. He appealed to Ghana Telecom to consider the Police station in their plans to extend telephone facilities to Senya Beraku.
