Presidential hopefuls seeking to lead the Convention People’s Party are expected to cough up an amount of GH?155, 000 after the party opened nominations for its Presidential and parliamentary primaries scheduled for 2016.
The exercise is expected to last for two weeks.
Presidential hopefuls would pay an amount of GH?500 to pick up nomination forms, pay GH?100,000 as filling fees and then another GH?50,000 as development levy.
Presidential aspirants for the two biggest political parties in the country namely the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party, paid GHc55,000 and GHc85,000 each respectively.
Meanwhile, Parliamentary aspirants are also expected to pay GH?2,500 as filling fees. Picking of nomination forms attracts a fee of GH?500 with the remaining GH?2,000 paid when returning the forms.
National Youth Organizer of CPP, Ernesto Yeboah, in an interview with Citi FM said the leadership of the CPP, decided to peg the amount up because they needed to gather all the resources needed for an effective campaign in 2016.
Daughter of Ghana’s first President Samia Nkrumah reportedly picked up her nomination forms Monday to contest for the presidential slot of the party.
The former MP for Jomoro is expected to contest the 2012 Presidential candidate, Dr Michael Abu Sakara Foster who is expected to pick up nomination forms later.
