CPP not for Nkrumah’s children – Delle

Chairperson for the Convention People’s Party (CPP) Professor Edmund Delle has said the party is not the preserve of the children of its founder Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

According to him, the CPP is open to all Ghanaians who are willing to pursue the agenda of development premised on the modules outlined by the famous Ghanaian President who is often credited with the liberation of the West African country.

Some leading members of the CPP including, Dr. Abu Sakara have accused daughter of Dr Nkrumah, Samia Nkrumah of hijacking the party. They claim the former chairperson who is angling to lead the party in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections is dictating affairs in the party. Samia has denied the accusation.

Speaking to Nii Arday Clegg on the Morning Starr Wednesday, Professor Delle said the CPP is progressive and welcomes everybody.

“I personally don’t believe that Nkrumah left the party for his children alone,” the dermatologist said in an attempt to debunk the claims against Samia.

He also revealed that the party’s 2012 flagbearer Dr. Abu Sakara has not resigned from the party as is being speculated in the media.
