CPA organises conference for parliamentarians

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association(CPA), In co-operation with the Wilton Park, an executive agency of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, is arranging a conference for Parliamentarians from June 9 to June 12 2003 at Wilton Park in Steyning, West Sussex, in the United Kingdom.

It is under the theme, “How can Parliamentarians best re-engage with the public?”

The conference is aimed at bringing together distinguished members of Commonwealth and non-Commonwealth Parliamentarians, as well as academics, consultants and representatives of organizations concerned with democracy and good governance.

Participants are to share information on the successful strategies currently taking place within the Commonwealth and beyond to address the problem of disengagement and to achieve greater understanding of the roles played by entities such as political parties.

The conference also seeks to point to the Secretariat, how to help Parliamentarians to improve upon relationships between themselves and the public.
