Court remands two armed robbers in prison custody

Kumasi, Sept. 6, GNA – A Kumasi circuit court has remanded two persons in prison custody for robbery. Kwadwo Sarpong alias ‘Blackman’ and Kofi Kyere, 22, will remain in prison custody for further investigations to be conducted. Police Chief Inspector John Cobbina Afful told the court, presided over by Mr. Ernest Yao Obimpeh that the complainants are salesmen at a Fan Milk shop at Fante New Town in Kumasi.

He said at mid-day on August 18, this year, the complainants whose names were being withheld for security reasons were attacked by the accused persons who wielded cutlasses and asked the salesmen to surrender all the sales they had so far made.

Chief Inspector Afful said after the accused persons fled with the money, the complainants called the Buffalo Unit of the Ghana Police Service, who after listening to the description of the robbers managed to arrest them. However, the suspects have denied involvement in the robbery of the salesmen.
