Court remands suspected drug peddler

A suspected drug peddler caught with a quantity of dried leaves believed to be cannabis at Aboaso, in the Kwabre East District, has been remanded into prison custody by a Kumasi Circuit Court.

The plea of Jewel Sowah alias “Ga Mantse”, was not taken and he was ordered to re-appear on Wednesday, May 23.

Police Inspector Kwabena Oduro Boateng told the court presided over by Justice William Boampong that, the accused was arrested on May 2, upon a tip off.

He said two brown envelopes containing the dried leaves, was uncovered in Sowah’s room during a search.

Samples had already been sent to the forensic laboratory for examination, the prosecution added.**
