Court remands headmaster for rape

Kpando, Jul.10, GNA – Kofi Avadzi, Headmaster of Anfoega Secondary School was on Wednesday remanded in Police custody by a Kpando Circuit Court for allegedly raping a 16-year-old form one student from another secondary school.

Avadzi pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on July 16, this year. Chief Inspector K. Klu, prosecuting told the Court, presided over by Mr Justine. K. Dorgu that on June 21, this year, the victim who paid a visit to the Anfoega School during prep time was returning when she met Avadzi on the way.

The Headmaster gave a lift to the girl and instead of sending her to her destination, he drove her to his bungalow and raped her several times until the next day.

Chief Inspector Klu said on her release she reported the incident to a schoolmate and then to the School authorities. The girl’s Headmistress later reported the matter to the police who issued her a medical form to visit the hospital and Mr. Avadzi was later arrested. The medical report revealed that there were bruise and blood clot in her private part with a broken hymen and a painful abdomen.
