Court remanded mason in police custody for defiling an SSS student

Tepa (Ash), May 28, GNA – A Tepa circuit court, presided over by Mr Justice S.K.B. Alomatu has remanded Issa Issaka, 20, a mason resident at Tepa in police custody for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old second year student of Tweneboah Kodua Secondary School. His plea was not taken and would re-appear before the court on June 2.

Police Inspector Stephen Sampson Amponsah, presenting the facts of the case told the court that both Issaka and the victim had been friends for the past 12 months.

He said about three months ago, the victim absconded from school and went to stay with the accused at Tepa. Inspector Amponsah said the family of the victim was searching for her when they had the information that the victim was staying with Issaka and that she was pregnant.

He said the victim started bleeding after an attempt to abort the pregnancy and she was rushed to Tepa district hospital where after medical examination, the pregnancy was terminated. According to Inspector Amponsah, the mother of the victim made a report to the police and after investigation Issaka was arrested and charged with the offence.

The court ordered the police to investigate and bring those who were responsible for the abortion to court.
