Court jails escapee

Twifo-Praso (C/R), April 16, GNA – Charles Dangema, a citizen of Twifo- Denyase, who feigned madness, smeared himself with human excreta and escaped from police custody was on Tuesday jailed 24 months by the District Magistrate’s court at Twifo-Praso. He pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector George Okine told the court presided over by Mr. Seth Bio-Nyamekye that on December 26, 2007, Dangema was arrested and charged with threat of death. He said while in custody at the Twifo-Praso police station, he feigned madness and was sent to hospital for examination and was later sent back to the cell.

Chief inspector Okine said Dangema smeared his body with excreta and escaped, resulting in the dismissal of the Policeman on duty at the time. He said Dangema was arrested on March 12 2008, upon a tip-off.
