Court issues warrant for arrest of couple

Kuntanase (Ash), July 26, GNA – The Kuntanase Magistrate Court last Thursday issued a bench warrant for the arrest of a couple, Justice Owusu, 36 and Afia Ansaba, both bakers at Bompata in Kumasi for failing to appear before it on an assault charge.

The couple were said to have assaulted Yaa Frimpomaa, a 24 year-old pregnant woman at Jachie.

The facts of the case as presented by Inspector Thomas Bossman Tuffour were that, the couple live in the same house with Frimpomaa at Jachie and that due to her pregnancy, Frimpomaa spat frequently. Inspector Tuffour said on 26 June, this year, at about 2000 hours, Frimpomaa was sitting in front of the house when the couple saw her and asked why she spat often.

According to the Inspector, the complainant asked them to be patient with her but this did not go down well with them. It degenerated into a quarrel and in the process the couple assaulted her.

Inspector Tuffour said neighbours who sent her to the Jachie Police station rescued her.

She was given a medical form for the hospital and the following day the couple were arrested and charged to appear before court on Thursday but they failed to do so.
