Court grants Local Government Inspector bail

Nkawie (Ash), Sept 19, GNA – The Nkawie Circuit Court on has granted the Atwima Nwabiagya District Assembly Local Government Inspector 20 million cedis bail for threat of death. Mr Amo Mensah pleaded not guilty to the charge and will re-appear on 28 September.

Police Chief Inspector Robert Yitamkey told the court that on 11 June, Mr Patrick Asamoah, a welder who has a shop close to the carpentry shop of the accused, solicited the assistance of some other people to fill a hole behind his shop with sand.

The accused tried to stop the people from collecting the sand and this generated into confrontation between him and the people. In the course of the exchanges, the accused told the complainant that he would employ the services of some people to beat him to death. Following this threat the complainant made a report to the Abuakwa police who arrested the accused.
