Court grants bail to phone theft

Awutu, (C/R), April 17, GNA- A magistrate’s court at Awutu in the Central Region, on Thursday granted 500 Ghana Cedis bail to Abdulai Perry, 28, with two sureties to justify, for stealing a mobile phone.

The accused, who pleaded not guilty on the charge of stealing a mobile phone valued at 210 Ghana, belonging to Moris Sasay, a fashion designer, would re-appear at court, on April 21, 2008.

Police Inspector Emmanuel Ofori told the court, presided over by Mr Kofi Ahiabor that the theft took place on April 14, at the Buduburam Refugee Camp, near Kasoa.

He said the accused obtained Sasay’s phone in order to make a call but bolted away with the communication equipment.
