Court fines driver for careless driving

Sekondi, March 14, GNA – A Sekondi District Magistrate’s Court on Monday imposed a fine of 500,000 cedis on Kingsley Ezrah Arthur, a taxi driver, for careless driving and negligently causing harm. The accused would serve six months imprisonment in hard labour if he fails to pay the fine. He pleaded guilty. Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Adu Kyeremeh said on September 27 last year, the accused knocked down Kojo Dodoo, a nine-year-old boy. Sergeant Kyeremeh said the victim suffered deep laceration on the right hand and was admitted at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital for about seven days and had since been visiting the hospital for reviewing.
