Court convicts “Susu” operator for forgery

Akyem Swedru, April 21, GNA – Noah Aborgeh a 35-year-old Susu collector who forged the official stamp of Akyem Swedru Circuit Court was on Friday convicted on his on plea to two million cedis fine by the court.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Charles N. Quaye told the court presided over by Mr Edward Kwame Bosompem Apenkwah that Aborgeh is a Susu collector resident at Akyem Oda.

He said on September 15 last year, Madam Akua Amoabea a trader at Akyem Oda took a loan of 500,000 cedis with an interest of 500,000 cedis to be paid within five months from Aborgeh The prosecution said Amoabea paid the money leaving a balance of 320,000 cedis to be paid by March 30 this year.

Police Inspector Quaye said in an attempt to force Amoabea to pay remaining money quickly, Aborgeh prepared a document bearing a stamp of the court and served it on Amoabea to pay the money or appear before it on April 10.

The prosecution said on April 10, Amoabea went to the court premises but did not meet Aborgeh and when she contacted court officials and showed them the document it turned out to be forged. He Aborgeh was later arrested and charged with the offence and after investigations charged.

In another development, Eric Asante a 30-year-old mason was fined 2.5 million cedis by the court for stealing. Asante convicted on his own plea would serve nine months imprisonment in default.

Police Inspector Quaye told the court that on April 13, Asante stole quantities of green pepper and cabbages from a farm belonging to Mr Kwabena Emmanuel at Akyem Aperade and sold the items at Akyem Oda.
