Court convicts farmer for threatening father

Akyem-Swedru (E/R), April 13, GNA – Kwame Appiah, a 35-year-old farmer, who threatened to kill his father, was on Thursday convicted to a fine of three million cedis by the Akyem Swedru Circuit Court. Appiah, who would go to jail for 12 months in default, was also made to sign a bond to be of good behaviour for three months. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Appiah Korang told the court presided over by Mr Kwame Bosompem Apenkwah that, the convict, who was away from the town for two years, returned recently and requested the complainant, who was his father to give him a land to farm. He said the convict, who would not take his father’s advice to wait for sometime before being provided with the land, became annoyed and threatened to kill him.

The prosecution said the complainant, who became afraid rushed to the Akyem Manso police to lodge a complaint but the convict chased him to the place, where he was arrested and charged before the court. 13 April 06
