Council donates money, soap to ASANCO fire victims.

Asankrangwa (W/R) Mar. 1, GNA- The Wassa-Amenfi Traditional Council has donated two million cedis cash and assorted cartons of soap worth one million cedis to victims of recent fire outbreak at Asankrangwa Secondary School (ASANCO).

The cause of the fire that destroyed personal effects of 40 students valued at about 400 million cedis at the girls dormitory was still not known.

Nana Adu Boahene I, Gyaasehene of Asankrangwa presented the cash and items on behalf of the council and advised the victims to put their sorrows behind them and concentrate on their studies.

He urged school authorities to apply the code of conduct and ethics of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to ensure discipline and hard work among staff and students.

Nana Kofi Tano, Nkosuohene of Asankrangwa commended the authorities of the school for their efforts to provide additional facilities to enhance teaching and learning.

Mr. Joseph Bagbin, headmaster of the school gave the assurance that the school would provide temporary accommodation for the affected students. He said more than 700 million cedis would be needed to renovate the dormitory and appealed for assistance from the Ghana Education Service, old students, NGOs and citizens of the town.
