Controversy Over New Ministry

There was hue and cry in parliament last Friday over the new designation of the former Minister for Road and Transport, Dr. Richard Anane.

This happened when Dr. Anane appeared before the house to answer questions posed by members. The said questions referred to the minister as “Minister for Roads and Transport”.

The minority challenged that the designation of the ministry had changed, and as such there should be an executive instrument (EI) so that the house can accordingly use the new designation given the minister.

The majority leader, Felix Owusu Adjapong, argued that at the time the questions were posed, the minister’s designation had not been changed, thus there was no point for the minority to raise an alarm over this.

It would be noted that the ministry of roads and transport has now been changed to the ministry of transportation. The order sheet for Friday’s parliamentary proceedings referred to the minister as for “Roads and Transport”.
