Controller and Accountant General sacked

The Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party government has extended its ongoing dismissal of Heads of State Institutions appointed by ex-President John Mahama to the Controller and Accountant General’s Department with a 24 hour notice to Mr Seidu Kotomah to vacate his post.

Dependable sources at the Controller and Accountant General’s Department told The aL-hAJJ that Mr Kotomah was over the weekend served notice to vacate his post as the Controller and Accountant General effective Monday, May 08, 2017.

“I can confirm that Mr Kotomah has been asked to vacate his post. This was communicated to him yesterday (Sunday) and it takes effect today Monday. So Mr Kotomah is no longer the Controller and Accountant General. President Akufo-Addo has fired him,” the source added.

Mr Kotomah, until his appointment by President John Dramani Mahama to take over from Madam Grace Francisca Adzroe, was Acting Deputy Controller and Accountant General in charge of Financial Management Services.

He held a number of significant positions including the Director of the Ghana Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS), Head of Payroll, Director of Internal Audit and Investigation and Head of Main Accounts.

He has also served as Treasury Officer in Washington DC and Assistant Treasury Officer in London. He was employed by the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) in September 1989.

President Akufo-Addo has since taking office on January 7 this year been busy sacking heads of institutions who were appointed by his predecessor, Mr John Mahama.
