Contractor granted bail for stealing

Tema, March 30, GNA – Alfred Kwabena Dzakpasu, a contractor, was on Wednesday granted bail in the sum of 40 million cedis with one surety by the Tema Circuit Court ‘B’ for allegedly stealing building materials belonging to his client Dzakpasu who pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing is to reappear on April 21.

Police Inspector Agbedanu told the court that Madam Ashiokai Nortey, a trader, engaged the services of the accused to build a house for her at Tema Community 17 six years ago. He said the complainant gave the accused a total sum of over 14 million cedis in the form of building materials and cash.

On September 15, 2005 when Madam Nortey visited the site she realized that work on the building had come to a halt and the building materials not available. She told the accused to either complete the building or return the items to her but to no avail. He promised to return the items on January 30, 2006 but he failed, so she reported him to the police.
