Confirmed: 20 dead in Accra-Kumasi ghastly car crash

Twenty passengers have died in a ghastly car crash that occurred around 6 pm, Sunday, near Asankare on the Kumasi-Accra road.

A commuter, who chanced upon the bloody accident told Starr FM that he could count several lifeless bodies being packed into the bucket of a pickup truck.

Three cars were involved in the deadly accident – a pickup, a Sprinter bus and a Glo branded vehicle.

The Ashanti Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department Commander, Peter Gyemah, confirmed to StarrFMonline.com that 12 males and 8 females were among the casualties.

Virtually all of them were travelling on the passenger bus.

Several others are also left with critical injuries.

It is not clear how the accident happened, but reports from the scene say it caused a gridlock.
