Community to institute scholarship scheme

Atobiase (Ash), May 26, GNA – The chief and people of Adansi-Atobiase has instituted a scholarship scheme to enable needy but brilliant pupils pursue education.

Nana Taaka Ababio, chief of Atobiase, told the GNA that the community has earmarked basic education as one of the areas needing priority attention since that is the only means to ensure a better future for the youth.

The chief, who is resident in the US, said 80 per cent of the initial fund for the scholarship would be contributed by citizens living abroad while the rest would be realised from local sources such levies and voluntary contributions.

He said meetings with residents abroad to draw up a development agenda for the town is on course and that a local committee would be set up to manage the scholarship scheme.
