Community calls for speed ramp to prevent accidents

Kuffour Camp (Ash), Jan 25, GNA – Mr Yaw Abonnieh, Unit Committee Chairman for Kuffour Camp in the Atwima-Mponua District, has appealed to the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) and the district assembly to construct speed ramps and pedestrian crossings in the town to curb accidents.

He said within six months five accidents have occurred resulting in the death of seven people including a pregnant woman. Mr Abonnieh made the appeal when Mr Wilberforce Owusu-Ansah, the District Chief Executive, visited relatives of victims of a recent accident.

In the accident Nuhu Gausu and Madam Ernestina Banda died and four others sustained injuries when an articulated truck ran into a kiosk and destroyed some houses.

The DCE said the assembly would provide building materials to those whose houses were destroyed.
