Community appeals for more teachers

Oseikrom (Ash), Oct. 8, GNA – The people of Oseikrom near Nyinahin in the newly created Atwima-Mponua District of Ashanti have made a passionate appeal to the Ghana Education Service (GES), as a matter of urgency to post more teachers to the primary schools in the town.

Making the appeal through the Ghana News Agency at Oseikrom, Mr Alex Oduro and Mr Jacob Kombat, both unit committee members, said as a result of the inadequate teachers in the schools, most of the pupils had stopped attending school.

According to the unit committee members, there were a lot of children of school going age in the area but due to frequent shortage of teachers they were reluctant to attend school.

The situation, they said, had become a major source of concern to the people and therefore, asked the GES to come to their aid now in order not to jeopardise the future of the children.
