Communities in Adansi South to get portable water

New Edubiase, May 23, GNA-About 70 communities in the Adansi South District are to benefit from a total of 94 boreholes, under the Community-Based Rural Development Water Project, this year. Mr William Dendem, District Officer of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA), who made this known, said each of the boreholes would cost 56 million cedis.

He was speaking at a day’s workshop organised for 150 people drawn from the various water and sanitation committees in the district at New Edubiase, to sensitise participants on the role of the communities in the implementation of the project.

Mr Dendem said each beneficiary community would be required to pay five per cent of the project cost while the district assembly would be expected to pay an additional five per cent of it. He announced that China Geo Engineering has been awarded the contract for sinking the boreholes.

The CWSA Officer, asked the communities to assist in the implementation of the project by ensuring that the people pay their contributions on time and to keep proper records of monies they collect.
