Commission of inquiry into judgement debt still facing challenges

The Commission of Inquiry into judgement debt is still facing challenges with regards to receiving documents of cases from 1992 to date.

When it resumed sitting on Wednesday, the Solicitor General Amma Gaisie presented duplicate files concerning payments of judgement debts from 2000 to 2012 instead of from 1992 to 2012.

Mrs Gaisie pleaded for more time to put the rest together.

Meanwhile, the Sole Commissioner into Judgement Debt, Justice Yaw Apau has debunked suggestions that the Commission’s work is moving at a slow pace.

He said the Commission is on course and will very soon come out with results.

He however attributed the challenges the Commission is facing with regards to receiving documents to poor record keeping by public offices.
