The Ghana-based African Commission for Human Rights and Health Promoters (CAPSDH) has condemned the pouring of human faeces at the offices of the Crusading Guide newspaper last week. A statement in Accra signed by the President, Dr. Edmund N. Delle said, “Ghana at the age of 43 years certainly cannot go back to those primitive days when it is now aspiring to become a middle level country”. It said the Commission was appalled by such a nasty incident, which infringed human rights and good health.
“The Media as the Fourth Estate of the Realm has been playing a very vital role in consolidating the country’s young democracy and should not be intimidated by non- democrats or people who want to punish a perceived enemy.”
The statement urged Ghanaians to support the media to enable it to discharge its constitutional responsibilities. The Free Press and the Ghanaian Chronicle were the first victims of similar acts of intimidation in 1992
