Commencement Date for G-CAP has not been approved – GSA

The Ghana Standard Authority (GSA) says the implementation date for the Ghana Conformity Assessment Programme has not yet been approved by the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

The Authority has therefore advised the general public to disregard information peddling around that the implementation date for the Ghana Conformity Assessment Programme (G-CAP) is 2nd March, 2015.

A statement signed by Mr Kofi Amponsah-Bediako, Head of Public Relations, GSA and copied to the GNA in Accra on Wednesday said it has come to the attention of the GSA that information was being peddled around that the implementation date for the Ghana Conformity Assessment Programme is 2nd March, 2015.

“This is to inform all importers and stakeholders as a whole that the GSA has never authorised anyone to make such announcements”, it said.

GSA said the implementation date for the G-CAP can only be announced by the Authority after approval by the Minister of Trade and Industry.

“All importers in Ghana should, therefore, remain calm until the approved date is indicated by the Minister of Trade and Industry”.
