Some members of the College of Education Tutors Association of Ghana (CETAG) are clad in red as they protest government’s seeming neglect for their concerns.
At the Holy Child College of Education on Tuesday, some members of CETAG had hung red bands to signify the activation of a first of industrial actions to register their dissatisfaction.
Reports gathered so far indicates that the Association has scheduled Thursday, November 2 to embark on a nationwide strike.
This is to ensure that government attends to their plight, according to the Western and Central regions Chairman of the Association.
Ebenezer Appiah Bonney claims government has been silent over their plight for the past 12 years.
He outlined – to Media General’s Loveridge Ampratwum Okyere – how they are denied market premiums unlike other skilled professionals at the country’s tertiary institutions.
He further said since they were migrated from the Ghana Education Service (GES) payroll, the tutors have had nine months of their salaries in arrears. The members say they are also denied allowances such as those for book and research, transport and accommodation.
