Government has directed the interdiction of ten officials of the Ghana Health Service suspected to have played various roles in the massive fire that ravaged the Central Medical Stores.
An investigation into the fire conducted by the BNI and the Fire service has concluded that the disaster was an act of arson.
This was disclosed by the Attorney General Marietta Brew Appiah-Opong Friday when she briefed the media on the catastrophic fire that saw the nation’s medical stock run out.
The AG also revealed that the chief suspect Samuel Dogbe is on the run. She said government is seeking the assistance of Interpol to arrest him.
The CMS was consumed by fire destroying medical supplies and equipment which worth $230million on January 13, 2015.
Senior officials of the GHS including, director of procurement and supply; Dr Kwesi Addai Donkor, director supplies, stores and drug management at GHS; Abdul Karim Idrissu, head of stores at the Central Medical Stores and Dr Constance Bart-Plange, head of Malaria Control Programme were interdicted in the wake of the outbreak.
