CLOGSAG calls off strike

Accra, Aug.27,GNA. – The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG), on Friday said it has put on hold its strike action counting on the National Security Council’s word to address its grievances.

CLOGSAG has been battling to earn a hearing before the Fair Wages and Salary Commission (FWSC) on the conditions of service for its members especially, concerns on the Single Spine Salary Structure.

According to Mr. Edward Tennyson Foli, Acting President of CLOGSAG, following its petition on the issues to the President, the National Security Council was tasked by President John Atta Mills to handle the matter as a result the National Security Co-ordinator initiated the move for the solution of the matter.

At a press conference on Friday held in Accra, Mr. Foli said the National Executive Council (NEC) of CLOGSAG has had a meeting and “decided to put on hold demonstrations nationwide with immediate effect”.

He said there meeting with the National Security Coordinator was fruitful.

Mr. Foli said the NEC would be meeting from time to time to review the situation and commended its members for their co-operation, support, understanding, diplomacy and maturity through their trying period.
