Clerk of Parliament elected assemblyman for Gomoa Fetteh

Gomoa Fetteh(C/R), Jan. 10, GNA – Mr MC Jewells Annan, a Clerk of Parliament has won the re-run of Gomoa Fetteh Electoral Area District Level Election.

He polled 919 votes as against 490 by his opponent Mr Samuel Kobena Sekyi, a teacher.

The re-run became necessary when the September 26, 2006 election ended in a deadlock when each of the contestants polled 430 votes. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Stephen Batino, Gomoa District Electoral Officer commended the electorate for a peaceful re-run.

He congratulated the contestants for comporting themselves before, during and after the election and in addition, accepting the results in good faith.

“This is a clear indication that democracy is gaining grounds in the country,” he added.
