Ejisu (Ash), March 17, GNA – A clergyman has expressed concern about the current spate of invocation of curses on people by aggrieved persons, including Christians in the country.
Reverend Monsignor Thomas Manu, Vicar-General of the Konongo-Mampong Catholic Diocese, said such evil act should be stopped because it could have serious negative effects on humanity. He was educating members of the Saint Anthony Catholic Church on the effects of curses, at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region. Rev. Manu said the increasing rate of untimely deaths and suffering in the Ghanaian society these days was due to the invocation of curses and other evil spirits on people by angry persons. He asked “Invocation of evil spirits is even condemned by traditionalists, so how come that Christians of today have started embracing it ?” . Rev. Manu expressed surprise that even some prominent people including politicians in the country resorted to invocation of curses as a way of settling disputes.
He asked Ghanaians, particularly Christians, to praise and glorify God and spread the gospel instead of propagating evil. 17 March 09
