Clearing agent shot dead by robbers

A 47-year-old clearing agent, residing at Ashaiman Jericho was in the early hours of Tuesday shot in the head by unknown gunmen believed to be armed robbers.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Juliana Obeng, Tema Regional Police Public Affairs Officer confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency in Tema.

ASP Obeng said in at the dawn of Tuesday, information reached the Tema Police Information Room about a robbery incident taking place at Ashaiman Jericho near Nakita Hotel.

She said that information gathered at the scene indicated that three men wielding guns entered the compound of Mr George Agbenu, the deceased and shot him in the head.

The victim, she said, was rushed to a nearby clinic and referred to the 37 Military Hospital where he died.

She appealed to the public especially residents of Jericho to assist the Police with information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators of the crime.
