Civil servants urged to support gov’t

Mr Emmanuel Agyekum, Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, has appealed to the staff of MMDAs to work hard to ensure the success of the “Better Ghana Agenda”.

He said as civil servants they were obliged to support any government that comes to power to deliver its programmes and policies to improve the lot of the people.

Mr Agyekum, who is also MP for Nkoranza, made the appeal when he interacted with staff and management of the Jomoro District Assembly at an open forum at Half Assini.

The minister is on nationwide tour of Municipal Metropolitan and District Assemblies (MMDAs) throughout the country to inspect District Development Fund (DDF) projects.

The Jomoro District Coordinator Director, Mr Amadu Abudu, said that the establishment of the DDF was a laudable idea that has helped in the development of many districts.

He said the Jomoro Assembly has undertaken a number of development projects under the fund.

Mr George Amenlemah Blay Morkeh, Presiding Member of the Assembly, commended the Minister for his visit and called for more of such visits.

The Jomoro District Chief Executive, Mr Sylvester Daddie and Mr Morkeh led the Minister to inspect some of the DDF funded projects in the District.

They include New District Court building complex at Half Assini, Jewi Bye-pass road and new digital TV Station at Tikobo No. one.
