CID officially commences investigations into Karbo tape

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has officially given indication that the former National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Karbo, is being investigated for disturbing the public peace for what is believed to be his plotting of mayhem in the December polls.

Mr. Karbo was granted bail by the police earlier on Thursday in the presence of his lawyer, Egbert Fabille and Vice Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Fred Oware at the CID headquarters.

A secret tape recording of a man plotting to bring in “bad boys” from Liberia, Ivory Coast, Libya and Benin to ensure that the NPP wins the election in December is believed to be that of Anthony Karbo.

In the tape, the individual is heard telling another individual to protect the five Akan dominated regions, which are the strongholds of the NPP, to consolidate the win at the polls.

But Anthony Karbo in a statement vehemently denied the accusation leveled against him, insisting that it was a diabolic attempt by the NDC to bring his reputation into disrepute after he supposedly exposed the deal between the brother of the president, Ibrahim Mahama and the Merchant Bank.

Mr. Karbo’s lawyer, Egbert Fabille told media men at the CID office that his client was granted bail and officially informed that the CID is investigating the secret tape.
