Church of Pentecost marks Jubilee at Apam

Apam (C/R), Nov. 24, GNA – The Apam District Pastor of the Church of Pentecost, the Reverend Thomas Kwabena Tannoh, has called on Christians not to focus on their material development alone but to seek their spiritual growth as well. Pastor Tannoh addressing members of the Church after a picnic through the principal streets of Apam at the weekend as part of the Golden Jubilee of the Church urged them to keep the “Pentecost Fire” burning both in and outside the Church in line with the vision of the founders.

The Reverend James Mckeon, an expatriate missionary in the then Gold Coast carved out the Church from the Apostolic Church, in May 1953.

The Church of Pentecost now has 8,000 branches in Ghana abroad with Apam alone having four branches

Pastor Tannoh urged the members not to get complacent with the achievements of the Church over the past 50 years but to work hard to build upon the foundation.

“Let us keep on asking ourselves what the state of the Church would be in the next 50 years,” he said.

He attributed the achievements of the Church to its principles of truth and unity and said they should uphold the vision of the founding fathers by standing up for righteousness and despising evil.

Activities lined up for the Jubilee include a clean-up exercise, fund raising in support of the Pentecost University, songs of praise night and an Awards ceremony to honour hard working and dedicated members.
